Most Common Questions asked by Dog Owners
How old does my dog have to be before training for obedience?
We start training your dog at the age of 4 months.
If my dog is an adult can you still do obedience?
Yes, we have had dogs come to us at 10 years old and go through Obedience training!
Till what age can you still train my dog?
We don't have an age limit.
What breed does my dog have to be?
We train all breeds - from Maltese to Mastiffs, Yorkies to St.Bernards!
How long does it take to train my dog?
It takes 8 days for our Obedience course, training your dog to the best of his/her ability.
Does my dog have to stay at the centre for the training?
Yes and everything is provided for them.
Do I have to be with my dog?
No,you only need one to two hours at the most to spend with your dog on the day that you pick it up to learn how to control him/her and to make sure that the dog listens to you and follows your orders. You will be instructed by one of our trainers on how to give your dog the proper hand signals and verbal commands.
Do you correct problem dogs?
Yes, to the best of the dogs ability in the time that they are with us- things like toilet training will always need ongoing training at home as this is not something that can be completely rectified in 8 days.
If my dog is easily led by other dogs or people, or is aggressive to other dogs or people can you help?
These are common things we work on and we push the dog as far as we can when they are with us over the 8 days.
Will you stop my dog from jumping up on people? Taking washing off the line? Digging Holes? Chasing other dogs or cats? Motor bikes, cars etc.?
Yes! During their stay with us, our trainers will work your dog to the best of his/her ability so that you will be able to reinforce the training with him/her once they return home so that you can continue to improve on these behavioural issues.
Would you be able to train my dog not to take baits and to eat food only from its own bowl?
Most certainly. This is very important as we still have some pretty cruel people in our society that are beyond help. But if we protect our pet friend, he will be at no risk. It's a small price for his life. However, this is not something that can be completely trained in 8 days - this will need ongoing training once they return home just to remind them that they are not allowed to take food from people's hands.
Will my dog ever forget the training that you give it? and will I have to keep it up every day?
No! Your dog will never forget even if you don't work him for a month, but we advise that you train with your dog regularly as they love to be worked. You don't need to spend 3 hours training him/her every day, all you need is 10-20 minutes. Plus, after the training you will enjoy him/her so much more that it will be a pleasure for both of you and not just for the dog. This will also build your relationship with your dog a whole lot more and you will both have more respect for one another. If time is a problem for you, maybe get your kids to do some work with him/her too as your dog belongs to the whole family.
Do you guarantee that my dog will be trained after being at your centre? And when we get him home will he still listen to us?
Yes! Our work is all guaranteed to the best of your dogs ability. When you get your dog home, he/she must still work for you, that is why we spend time with you at the centre when you pick him/her up, to explain to you, and most importantly, teach you how to control your dog. It is essential that you keep up with the training once they return home so that they can only get better and better. Once you return home and if you are having some 'teething issues', you know that you can call us anytime and we will be more than pleased to help you.
